Hinged Christmas Card- Tis the Season

A week or so ago - I shared a "sneak peek" at a card I was making for my home party that night. Then, remember the SNOW storm that came to my area?? Yup - that 6" postponed the party until tonight!
So today is the day I am EXCITED to share this card design with you!

To begin creating this card, I was looking through my stamp sets...and realized I hadn't yet used the Tis the Season - Scrapbooking stamp set!! Well, I decided to change that, and started brainstorming on how this "scrapbooking" stamp, could be used on a CARD design.

Well, I came across this card design was from my friend & fellow consultant, Tina Lovell. What a talented lady she is! I loved the card design she used for a card she made in the past, so I took her design & changed it into a Christmas card!
It's always FUN to change up a card's function in opening...and I was determined to create something different for my cardmakers tonight....because some of them are close to "expert" level & I love to learn new things from them! Tonight, I'm hoping that I can teach them something too!
One "fun part" about this card....notice the RED ribbon...Do we HAVE red ribbon with gold running through it???

No----- we don't have red ribbon :)
....HOWEVER....anything this is WHITE, can be made colored with our ShinHan Alcohol markers! Wahoo!! LOVE this feature of our markers!

And look at those BEAUTIFUL sprigs!! Yes...these are from my FAVORITE product in this Holiday Expression Idea book - the Decorative Border Thin Cuts (metal dies) I am AMAZED at how much I use these cut designs!! Love - LOVE them!!

And let's take a look at the inside of this hinge card design....

How NEAT is that?!?!!!!!
Do you see how this opens?? With our sturdy, but BEAUTIFUL designer paper, creating this card was a snap!

The branch of leaves was from the Tis the Season- Scrapbooking stamp, ( I used New England Ivy ink to stamp it) and this was just the touch that the writing section inside needed!

Tina shared with me to cut the paper at 7 1/4 in length....
Next to cut the "triangle - that's not really a triangle piece - LOL!!
the left side is 1 3/4" tall
the RIGHT side is 5" tall.

I just played around with it, until I got the cut I liked, using my paper trimmer to cut these diagonal lines. :) I didn't realize how much I'd like this card....I should have taken pictures of my creating along the way! :)
The words on the front & the inside of the card, all came from the October Special stamp set - Love with all the Trimmings.
This stamp set can STILL be purchased as part of the Holiday Sparkle cardmaking kit - HURRY - it is a While Supplies Last item!!

I hope this inspired YOU to create & maybe even gave you a few ideas too!
If you'd like to recreate a similar card, I've listed the card ingredients below.

Here we go!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I ADORE creating Winter/Christmas cards, and had so much fun using our Thin Cut - Winter Flurries (metal dies) to create this card!
You can see I used all THREE of the metal die snowflakes on my card!
I designed this card around our BEAUTIFUL, NEW "Color of the Year" - Sugarplum.
If ONLY you could see this card in person!! There are so many FUN details taking place! :)
I'm going to try and show you a few of these details...
FIRST.....take a peek at the background of this card....
I used the stamp set named "Merry Trimmings" to create the background of my card.
I inked up the LARGE stamp in this set in VersaMark ink...and then heat embossed the clear powder to create a subtle, but pretty background.
NEXT, I used the stamp set "Falling Flakes" and inked up the medium size snowflake in Sugarplum ink.  I wasn't sure how well this snowflake would stamp on TOP of the already heat embossed background....but it was the PERFECT touch!!  The snowflake shone through & you still were able to see the clear embossed background too! :)
Now...let's look at the snowflake part of the card...
The Sugarplum glitter snowflakes weren't showing up enough on the white background of my card....so I pulled out my SHIMMER Brush (using Sugarplum of course ;) ) and shaded in the area behind each glitter snowflake.  I then added a SILVER Glitter Gem to the center of each snowflake.
For the sentiment of my card....
I used our Oval Thin Cuts (metal dies) .
I LOVE how our stitched shapes nestle so nice inside our Basic shapes! :)
The light snowflake behind the words Merry Christmas, was inked in 2nd generation Sugarplum, to get the lighter color tone.
To finish off this card, I added some silver embellishing thread to the bottom of the card & behind the oval wording. :)
I hope you enjoy this card.  Here is the list of CTMH products I used on this card in case you'd like to recreate something similiar...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have arrived from Joyce Gough's blog you are right on track.

Today I thought I'd share a non-traditional Christmas card with you. Take a look at this card below!

(click on the photo to enlarge it)

This card was fun to create & my color combo was inspired by our NEW Color Combo book called "Love of Color".  I LOVE this book, and how fun it is to try out new color combos!  You'll want to check out the Love of Color book by clicking HERE

I used our beautiful Christmas papers, called "Oh What Fun"...and what a FUN pack of patterned paper is in this collection! I ADORE these bright colors, for a different twist to the Christmas season! (they make GREAT birthday papers too!)

I also used 3 stamp sets to create this card design.  The first stamp is called "Tis the Season - scrapbooking" stamp....take a look...

The 2nd stamp set used was the "Wonder of the Season" stamp set.
Do you SEE all the possibilities with this stamp set?

And the 3rd stamp, you can hardly see where I used it on the card...but I DID use this "Watercolor Impressions" stamp set.

Let's take a close up look at the card....the tag, is where I stamped the Watercolor Impression using the Linen ink.  When you see this card in person, you do really notice this stamp! :)

The flower was colored with TWO of our new colors of Shimmer Brushes.  I used Sugarplum & mint.  The gold sparkle in the middle of the poinsettia, were the perfect touch to create this flower!

Also, I have been having fun tying our MINK Twine into bows!  All I did was "double up" the twine, and tie the bow like I would my shoelace.  Ta-da! It's as easy as that!

And check out the black & white striped Washi tape --- that's from the Hello Pumpkin collection (not halloween at all!)

Here is the page in the Love of Color book, where I receive the inspiration....pretty close to the original design - but yes so different too!

One of my FAVORITE new products, is our Metal die cuts we call "Thin Cuts".. We now have a "Fancy Tags" thin cut bundle!!

This set is LOADED with 10 different tags, & you can see that some of them have stitched edges too! :)

Here is my "recipe" of the items I used to create the card above...enjoy!

What a FUN set, and I can't wait to see what my CTMH sisters create with this stamp set! :) I'm sure you saw some beautiful work already in this hop. :)

Today, I chose to create a card with this stamp set.

I didn't have a lot of time to "play"...so I created the first thing that came to mind, and it's quite simple.  I look forward to playing some more with this stamp set VERY soon! :)

Because I was short on time....I picked up my Make It From Your Heart vol 4 AND my NEW "Love of Color" color combo book. I am SO THANKFUL for these books, and how time saving they are!!

Can you guess what paper pack I used for this card???

It's the paper collection with the BRIGHTEST colors in our Idea Book this time. We call it "Oh What Fun".  I love the tones in this paper pack...isn't this collection beautiful?!?!!

I'm not sure how well the photo captures this...but let's give it a try.  A SIMPLE way to add some dots to any background....our Shimmer Brushes!
  OH the possibilities!

I wanted a "sparkly" snow background, and I took the shimmer brush....tapped it on my finger above my paper & ta-da...I made shimmer flecks of snow!

I also ADORE the NEW Silver Thread....and twirled a bit around my finger & used a glue dot to hold it in place! ;)  The perfect sparkle & shine!

Items used to create this card....
9045 Love of Color - page 82 (Pewter)
9044 Make It From Your Heart - vol 4, patt 4
