National Scrapbooking Day – 2015 Spring Fundraiser

We had a wonderful day together on Saturday, May 2, 2015. 

Today was National Scrapbooking Day AND the entire month of May is National Scrapbooking Month!! 

 For those of us that enjoy papercrafting – we enjoy celebrating these special days!!  A great “excuse” for us to get together & get our creative juices flowing in the creative world!  

Join me now as I share the details of this creative day together!! 

We called this gathering our

and as you see – it took place in Morgantown PA!!!  

We made this a day for Cardmaker’s – Scrapbooker’s AND a Fundraiser to raise money for the children at Operation Smile!!  It turned out to be a GREAT day, and there was something for EVERYONE!!!

Our Scrapbooker’s arrived at 8am….and these fun goodies awaited them….

When our Cardmaker’s came at 9:30 – they registered, got a name tag & found one of these goodie bags at their spots. J

Throughout the day EVERYONE had door prize tickets as part of their day…and these are the goodies that were given away that day!  The CTMH Lagoon, chevron shoulder tote was our GRAND PRIZE of the day!! J

The scrapbooker’s were on their own for the most part.  They brought all sorts of goodies to work on, and enjoyed creating, sharing ideas & fellowshipping together! J

The cardmaker’s were ready to create…there were 5 ladies per group, and they stayed with that group the entire day.  They rotated around 4 tables in the morning, and 4 tables in the afternoon!!  

We had so much fun as we shared techniques, played with NEW product from Close To My Heart’s Seasonal Expression 2 mini-book and just enjoyed fellowshipping together. 

If the ladies did finish their cards early, they were welcome to go to the “extra” table to create this card using the MAY special – Taste of Summer  paper pack

OR they could head over to our Display area, and gather MORE ideas that they could use on future creative projects!!

Joyce Houck – my amazingly, creative, upline – taught us how to create some fabulously, folded cards today! 

Everyone seemed to REALLY enjoy the food today!  Yum!!! 

We had a couple breakfast cakes, juice, fruit for the morning snack AND a FABULOUS lunch of taco salad with a variety of side dishes including chicken salad, egg salad, broccoli/cauliflower salad – and the list goes on. 

(this only shows the one of two tables of food we had for lunch! LOL!!)

For supper that evening – a slimmer crowd, since it was the cropper’s & us consultants– we had Pizza, jello, and all the fun snacks that everyone brought along to share!!

After supper in the evening, and after the cardmaker’s left for home, I taught a 2 page layout class to those that wanted to learn something new.  We showcased our “My Creations Designer Bags” and turned the bag into a fun pocket page in our album!!!

AND – the BEST part about this day….we raised money for kids!! 

A HUGE thank you to EACH of you that purchased these handmade cards! 

A 100% of the purchase of these cards went directly to Operation Smile!!  On Saturday, we raised $80.50 – just by selling these handmade cards!!  Thank you, thank you for helping us to continue to help these children to smile & lead a normal life!!

My Designer Paper Bags – CTMH- EBBC crop

Two times a year, I am privileged to be a part of a WONDERFUL crop as a CTMH vendor!  This year, the April crop was held on April 25 – because Easter happened to be on the weekend when we normally have this event. 

This crop is held near Downingtown, PA – at the East Brandywine Baptist Church.  We are inside the gym AND there is Wi-Fi available too!  

The Women’s Ministry at EBBC puts together this day of crafting together – and they do a FABULOUS job!!  If you haven’t been a part of it before, you’ll definitely want to make SURE to join us at the October 2015 event! :)

The crop runs from 8am-8pm and is FILLED with fun activities, goodies, door prizes, etc throughout the entire day!  

The meals  are FABULOUS & INCLUDED with your registration fee of $45!!  You ALSO will receive a $15 credit voucher to use at one of the vendor stands as part of your registration fee!!! Wahoo!!

There are snacks, candy & drinks available throughout the day (the seasoned pretzels are the HOT items!) and there is always lots of inspiration to be shared through all the ladies that attend. 

There are always FABULOUS door prizes

….and there is always a layout contest at the end of the day too!

The fun part of the day…. is that you can choose to do TWO free make and takes!!!  I host the one, and the other vendor holds the other class!

When I create this project, I keep a few things in mind…

*what is a product that I haven’t shared with this group before

*how can they use this item in their current scrapbooking project

*it needs to be created in 15-20 minutes

So…it’s always fun to challenge myself to think of & then create something in the “guidelines” that I set for myself.  J

Here is the make and take we created this spring…

A fun, creative pocket!!  This could be a journaling pocket, a photo pocket – or use it how ever you choose!!   We used Close To My Heart’s FABULOUS My Creations Designer Paper bags & a few kinds of Washi Tape – exclusive to CTMH. J

I always like to create a 2 page layout showcasing the make and take item.  This is the layout I created using the pocket. 

I used CTMH’s pattern (from the Chalk It Up Workshop – the 2nd layout) to create this 2 page design.  It’s AMAZING how different a layout can look when you use different papers!  Check out the other layout here…

Do you see the pocket on this layout?J  What a fun “extra” to add to any of your creative projects!!

Our NEW Word Washi Tape was also used on this project.  If you haven’t already HEARD about this FUN, new Washi – head to my recent blog post where I shared info about our Washi Word tape!!  You will see the MANY words included on this roll & see a card using these words too… CLICK HERE!
