One of the best things of being a CTMH consultant, is the crafty friendships that are formed.  I am SO BLESSED to have gotten to know so many wonderful crafters, and because of this – we truly enjoy sharing artwork ideas together too!! 

My project today is one that I saw from other consultants.  I’m not sure who the original designer was/is, but I do know that I am SO THANKFUL they shared this amazing idea!!! THANK YOU!! J

These ornaments were FUN to create & the PERFECT little goodie to give to my team members that joined me at the recent CTMH consultant event in King of Prussia. CLICK HERE to learn more about this FUN consultant only event. J

As far as creating these ornaments, I used the Artiste Cricut collection that is exclusively available through Close To My Heart. 

I also used circle punches (1”, 1 1/2”) but you could cut the circles on the Cricut machine too.

I would HIGHLY suggest using the Explore Air Cricut machine for this project if you have it!  If not, the regular Circuit machine will do. J 

How do I know this? J I tried these cuts on both of my machines.

The reason I suggest using the Explore is because of all of the “EXTRAS” the Explore does on these cuts!!!

FIRST – the carbide blade cuts the shapes & holes PERFECTLY, no ragged edges or white core showing through! 

THEN, it also SCORES all those fan folds for you!!! WAHOO!!!   I didn't realize the Explore machine did the scoring (yes, I’m still learning) until it asked for me to insert my score tool.  It saved SO MUCH TIME by doing all of my scoring for me!! 
 

The shapes I cut are all found on the KEY G of the Artiste cartridge.

***PLEASE KEEP IN MIND****There are 6 different pinwheel flowers to choose from on the Artiste cartridge – so make sure to check out your other options before cutting the same shape I did on this key. J

Notice the orange shape on this key….this is the pinwheel flower.  So the finished piece at the #23 arrow?  You WILL NEED to cut TWO of these shapes (one for each side) to create your complete flower.  Set your dial at 1 1/4” to recreate the same size ornament I created.

If you choose to add the bow to the top (some ornaments had the bow, others didn't) set your dial size to 1/2" and then fold it together like your Artiste booklet shows you.

The glitter circle under the base & bling pendent was 1 1/2" and I also cut a 1 1/2" cardstock circle for the back of the ornament where I stamped the Dec 5th date with our new roller date stamp. J

I used our 1" circle punch to cut the circle from the Base & Bling Holiday style sheets.(retiring by Dec 31st!)  They are already adhesive backed, so I just stuck this circle inside the pendent & then used liquid glass to adhere everything together!!!

Here are the steps once you have everything cut….

1. I glued the 2 folded fan-like flower strips together.

2. I glued the cardstock circle to the back of the created pinwheel. After this was dry, I stamped the date on the back with the roller stamp.

3. I glued the glitter circle on the front side of the pinwheel.

4. I stuck the 1” circle sticker in the pendent & glued the glass cover on top of the sticker.

5. I glued the actual pendent on top of the glitter circle and left it dry for a LONG time - overnight if possible!! I made sure to apply the glue very heavy on this part!! It seemed to take more glue to have it stick well to the glitter paper.

6. To complete the ornament, I added a ribbon & ta-da....completed!!

Here is a look at my “trial run”….you have those when you create, right? I wanted to decide what was the best size to create for these base & bling pendants.  I really do like the other sizes too & may play around with those sizes later. 

I used the White Pines & Zoe paper packs.  White Pines will be leaving us at the end of this month, so make sure to get all the paper & accessories you need before it’s retired & gone!!

Close To My Heart consultant event–Workshops Your Way

We’ve just returned from another FABULOUS event held by the Close To My Heart home office!!! This event was all about “Workshops Your Way” program…yes it is a NEW PRODUCT coming our way!!  J

I LOVE the perks of being a consultant….December is always a “preview” month here at CTMH.  That means that we as consultants get to see BRAND NEW goodies EARLY…that you, our friends & customers, will see on the release date of January 1st, 2016.

I thought I’d take a moment, and share what this 3 hour event was all about. 

We actually turned this event into an all day event.  Three hours is great… but I hadn’t connected with so many of my CTMH friends in a long time, so we decided to arrive early to do lunch, and get situated in the room prior to our 1pm start time. Yay!!!

I was excited to create a little goodie for all of “my girls” (team) that were in attendance that day…..a Christmas ornament created with our Base & Bling jewelry line!!!  I’ve created a separate blog post about how to create these ornaments. Check here after Dec 10th for details and instructions on how to create these ornaments. 

I also handed out a BRAND NEW copy of the upcoming Seasonal Expressions 1 book to each of “my girls” since many of them had not yet held this mini-book in person… FUN!!!! (Make sure come to my Open House at the end of January for your FREE copy! More Details here)

It was such a JOY to see so many of my CTMH consultant friends!! From Virginia, New York, and close by too…these gals gave beautiful handmade goodies just for saying Hi!!  Thank you ladies for the fun treats….it made the day all the more special!!

Then it came to 1pm, and it was time to get our EVENT started!!! J

First, we were delighted to see that we had Monica Wihongi joining us at this King of Prussia, PA event!  Wahoo!! 

With our event being the largest event that was held that day (there were 10 different locations across North America with a total of 1000 consultants in attendance) we were honored to have Monica join us here!

Monica has been with the company for over 25 years & is the COO of Close To My Heart!  She is very knowledgeable, kind & caring to everyone she meets….and represents so well how all of the people are at CTMH Home Office.  We are so thankful & feel so blessed to have a company that cares so much about their consultants!!

When we arrived, each of us consultants had a COMPLETE WYW kit at our space!!!  Monica shared the details of the new Workshops Your Way (WYW) program with us as consultants.  We learned the benefits, options to make it work for YOU (our customers) and the unique aspect of the perks of this new program. (You’ll learn all about it after Jan 1st!)

Here is my team of girls  that were in King of Prussia for the day (15 of them were able to attend).

I’m so thankful for the DETAILED information we receive as consultants!  The other amazing aspect of being a part of the CTMH family is how they always LISTEN to their consultants (not just at these events, but ALL of the time!)  Yes, truly listen- AND….they will often make changes according to what we as consultants suggest!!

After Monica’s time of sharing, we had our CREATING time!!! 

We created the COMPLETE set of the Charlotte WYW kit!!  This includes 3 sets of 2 page layouts (6 pages), 9 cards & 2 pages of pocket scrapbooking!!

We chatted as we crafted, and enjoyed our time of catching up together.  We also went to our stamping station & we had a chance to try out our new “thin cuts” (metal die cuts) too!! Watercoloring is all the rage –and Monica showed us some great tips for when we watercolor! 

Of course there were some GREAT prize giveaways, and I was very surprised that near the end of our time together, Monica mentioned the Challenges that took place at Convention 2015 this past year. 

So, let’s back up a week or so….I was surprised to receive an email from CTMH Home Office last week, sharing that my name was pulled as a WINNER for the Sales Challenge that was offered at Convention!!  They said items would be shipped to me the following week – 

WELL….imagine my surprise when Monica mentioned my name at the WYW event & told me my PRIZE was right in the room!!!!  So blessed & amazed that my name was the one pulled to win this AMAZING prize!!  Thank you CTMH!!! 

What did I win???? J I won THREE completed Workshop Your Way kits!!  Yes, all the layouts, cards created and put together for me - ready to share with my customers & use these samples for my monthly workshops!!!  WOW!!!! Here is just a sample of the Charlotte WYW cards that can be created with this kit!!

It was also a pleasure to get a GROUP picture of those of us that participate in the Joyful Stars Blog Hop!

This stamp set has been one of my customers FAVORITE's ever since they saw the release of this Holiday Expression mini-book.  So we are ALL excited it is NOW available to purchase!! J 

I didn't have as much time as I wanted to play with this stamp set, so I created this simple card for my team meeting the other week.  

While I am ENJOYING learning to watercolor with my NEW watercolor paints from CTMH, I decided to pull out my "oldie but goodie" watercolor PENCILS & the Blending pen to complete this card! J 

I only used 3 colors (shown above)....but our entire set of Watercolor pencils comes in 2 different boxes - 12 in each box to create a set of 24!! 

Look at all those FABULOUS colors!!

I am AMAZED each time I use this blending pen & how SMOOTH the blending pen makes my coloring!  

Here's a close-up of my coloring....

 By using the blending pen, it not only smooths out my pencil lines, but allows me to do some shadowing as well!!  I love this option!! 

For the banner, I did choose to use our Watercolor Paints.  I stamped the "Thank You" with my Black Memento ink pad onto watercolor paper.  Then traced the banner with my black journaling pen.   J 

I also had to add in our NEW lavender enamel hearts. When you purchase this pack you will receive Plain enamel & GLITTER enamel hearts too!!  

I backed the stamped jar paper with a sheet of our Purple glitter paper. EACH of CTMH's 12 x 12 glitter packs, come with THREE different shades of that color.  That means I had 3 different shades of purple glitter paper to choose from for my mat!!
