Convention gifts for our Disney 2016 Convention

One of the FUN things we do when we go to a Close To My Heart event, is create small gifts for our friends!

This year – I had four of my “Create 4 Him” team attending Convention with me….so I wanted to create a few special items for them.  I chose to make this journal, along with some other goodies too (which I will share later)

Here is the FUN journal I made….

The journal was on the CLEARANCE rack at Wal-mart….Taylor Swift was decorating the front & back cover.  Oh fun…a 50 cent notebook turned into a FABULOUS, useful journal!!!  

I had purchased a Disney Cricut cartridge 4 years ago, when CTMH first announced that we will be going to Disney for our Convention!!  I was glad I did –because we have now been attending a Disney location for the past 3 years, and I knew next year we wouldn’t be here again. 

While I used the Mickey ears for the front of this cover, that rest of the items are ALL from Close To My Heart!!   

The gray flower shape was on our Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge (retiring July 31, 2016 or while supplies last)  & was cut from our Paper Fundamentals paper.  This paper is so PRETTY with it’s glossyness (is that a word? LOL!)  on one side, and solid color on the other.  AND….we just found out that this product WILL BE RETIRING on July 31, 2016 OR while supplies last!! 

For the camera cut, I used the ARTBOOKING Cricut cartridge (will continue to be available)…the film border is from Close To My Heart’s ARTISTE Cricut – also due to retire July 31, 2016. I created 4 of these journals for my team members and 2 of them for my WONDERFUL team leaders (upline’s) Kathy & Joyce.

I also used CTMH’s Shimmer Trim, Enamel Hearts, and our MAGICAL paper collection!!

Next, I wanted to create a few goodies for some friends too….so I thought it would be “quick & easy” to cut & laminate some Mickey tags.  

Well, when you create 20 of them – it doesn’t fall into the “quick” section anymore – LOL….but they were quite easy & adored by those I gave them too.

For my Spa Girls – I added their names to these tags.  The other tags, were just a “plain” tag.  I also created some Mickey & Minnie tags…just for fun!  You can see Minnie Mouse tag above…I forgot to get a picture of the plain Mickey ones.  While I used the dotted side of this Magical paper for Minnie, I used the striped paper, for Mickey's tag.

I created some LARGE paper clips too – perfect to “hold the page” in their journals as we planned to take notes all during Covnention.  I also used these "mini mickey's"  as decorations on the front of their bags. 

AFTER I finished cutting out all the little Mickey ears…I realized I couldn’t throw away the leftover scraps!  So…why not create a bookmark too?!?!

As you can see – cutting apart of the black cardstock that had the Mickey ears cut out on, and spacing them on a Cranberry Cardstock….created quick & easy boomarks!! Wahoo!!!

Urban Flower Layout - Joyful Stars Blog Hop

One of my FAVORITE paper packs in the NEW Annual Inspirations Idea Book is the Urban collection.   J

If you remember, LAST month, I shared a card made with Urban....and I decided to continue sharing some more items from a swap I was recently apart of. ( I make multiples of 5 different creations & got others in return)

Today we are going to take a look at how we can turn the Urban paper collection into a feminine design  J 

I really like the new flower stamp set called "So Many Smiles"....and as I started creating - I thought this stamp set could help "pull off" turning the Urban collection into something feminine.  

I also went to check out CTMH's how to books - and decided to use the Magic How-to-book called "Spellbound" for the final layout design.  


Take a peek at the finished 2 page layout....

I had so much fun stamping & creating the different colors to my flowers.  By adding our NEW Pomegranate color to the Urban collection, it added just the pop of color this layout needed.  

I felt that my larger pieces of Peacock Cardstock were too "blah"....so if you look closely, you can see that I did some stamping.  I stamped the background image from the NEW stamp set "In Review" with peacock ink to add some texture to these pieces.  

Here is a close up of a cluster of flowers....sometimes I chose to "pop" and layer all the different circle flowers, and other times I had them flat on the page. 

It's AMAZING how much easier our Close To My Heart Cricut collections make our creating!!  I cut out the circles, and the leaves & the title shape, and then just started stamping away!!  

Can you see....the Cricut cut scalloped border, was cut from our NEW Paper Fundamentals Pomegranate paper! J

The next close up picture is showcasing the title section.  I again used the Sapphire Paper Fundamentals paper to mat my "Smiles" title. (This fundamentals paper is part of our November special!!) J

I used two FUN stamp sets to create the title..."Handwritten Print" and "Brushstrokes".  It took me a long time to come up with this (for some silly reason) and I'm not sure if I still really like this title piece - LOL!  J

I added some of our NEW adhesive backed gold foil tape for a little bit of extra.....and I added our Enamel red dots to add some "extra" pop, and really like how it turned out!  All of our enamels are adhesive backed & ready to place on whatever project you are creating!

The FUNDAMENTALS paper, stickers & assortment is one of my FAVORITE product lines that Close To My Heart carries at the moment.  J

I adore the Paper Fundamentals cardstock, and the two different sides that it has!!  

I can choose to use the GLOSSY side....or just the "normal" designed side - it's TOTALLY up to me!  

Today I want to share a layout design that was created by the CTMH Art department. I love how this would be a perfect layout to use up those strips of leftover Fundamentals paper, after you complete the free workshop of this month.  

A very simple design - but this layout uses ALL 3 of the different Fundamentals products that we carry at Close To My Heart!!

At the top of the page, they used the glitter heart from the Fundamental Assortment.  They found the rest of the cluster items on the Fundamentals Sticker Packs.  

   

Make sure to take note of HOW MANY goodies you get in both of these collections!!  J 

  

On this close up photo take a look at....

• the glossy vs. printed side of the Fundamentals paper
• The adorable paper clip that is included in all Fundamentals Assortments
• the tab sticker - that is part of the Fundamentals Sticker pack.

Again - you can see the two different sides of the papers....but I REALLY like the accents shown here!!  

Both items are in the Fundamental Assortment packs.  
The heart - is one of the wooden stickers and that ADORABLE bow comes in those packs too!!
