Let it Shimmer!..This is one of my FAVORITE techniques!
I adore Sparkle & Shine & love to incorporate it into whatever project I'm working on.
Close To My Heart now carries 15 different colors of Shimmer Brushes, and EACH of them is so, so BEAUTIFUL!
Take a look at my card below, and even though it looks like there is no shimmer on this card, you'll soon see those "close up" photos and you'll be able to tell that YES --- there is LOTS of shimmer on this card design!!

This card design comes from our Make It From Our Heart How-To Book. I used the Volume 1, pattern #26 and I turned the card a quarter turn for this card design.
I used TWO stamp sets that are a part of the Bring Back Your Pack - Brushed Bundle.
Take a peek these TWO stamp sets---
D1602 Budding Friendship
D1627 Your Own Kind of Wonderful
Look at these BEAUTIFUL stamp sets! The Butterfly stamp sets "get me" every time :) I can't help myself!!
Let's take a look at the 3 ways I used the Shimmer Brush on this card.
1. Clear Shimmer Brush --- over top of the flowers

Let's take a look at the 3 ways I used the Shimmer Brush on this card.
1. Clear Shimmer Brush --- over top of the flowers
I ADORE using the Clear Shimmer brush over top of already stamped artwork! You can see a bit of the shiny sparkle on the pink & lagoon colored flowers.
For the pink flower, I used Smoothie ink for the outline image & Pixie for the inside.
The teal flower was created by using Lagoon ink. The outline was stamped in Lagoon & the inside was stamped with Lagoon - 1st generation. First Generation means that I inked up the inside part of the flower in Lagoon ink, stamped that image on scrap paper ....and then without reinking the stamp image, I stamped it directly INSIDE the flower! So if you haven't know before, EVERY ink pad has at least 2 shades (if not 3 shades) of color!
2. Lagoon Shimmer Brush - highlight words
It's best to use Intense Black Ink, or a non-smearing ink when highlighting words ;) ...however, I DID use our waterbased inks when I created this & it didn't smear! :) I only did ONE (and only one) swipe across the words -- nothing smeared!! Yay!!
I wish you could see that Lagoon shimmer in person --its SO pretty! :)
3. Bashful Shimmer Brush --- used to Splatter the Background.
(Bashful is a retired shimmer brush...but there are plenty of other colors to choose from! ;) )
Take a look at the top Right of the photo...and you'll see the shiny splatters there! It's so fun to tap your Shimmer Brush on your finger & watch the "splatter" take place on your paper. When doing this technique, you'll want to MAKE SURE your work space is cleared from any projects you don't want splattered :) LOL!! The splattering tends to go a lot farther on your workspace, than expected. :)
Another "Shiny Item" I used on this card, is our Holographic Papers :) :)
We have two different colors & I used the Oasis shade, and again...if you could see this in person, you would be amazed that iridescent, shiny look of this beautiful paper!
This photo from CTMH, captures the Holographic shine a bit better.

ReplyDeleteLove all the shimmer! (To help save my workspace, I place my project in an empty CTMH shipping box and then splatter away. The box walls contain any "mess.")
